Olive Optics is a real-time optical simulation platform for building and testing optical systems in a virtual environment.
Users can construct experiments by placing optical components such as lenses, mirrors, prisms, and apertures onto a workspace and adjusting their parameters. As configurations change, the behavior of light updates instantly, allowing users to see how the system responds in real time.
Olive Optics enables researchers and students to explore ideas, test configurations, and understand optical behavior without relying on physical lab setups.
Why this product exists?
The Reality of Optical Experiments
Designing and testing optical systems traditionally relies on physical laboratory setups. Researchers need lenses, mirrors, and specialized instruments to experiment with different configurations.
Many innovative optical systems require components that not available off-the-shelf.
Without these components, researchers are forced to rely on theoretical calculations instead of experimentation, which slows down innovation in optical system design.
Many stages of optical design do not actually require building a full experiment. Researchers often just need to quickly demo an idea or explore a configuration. Yet there is no intuitive way to do this quickly, so early exploration often relies on manual calculations, simulations, or conceptual reasoning.
